A friend of mine wrote his own version of amazing grace (it's posted below with his permission). It takes a look at God’s grace, presence and love from a different perspective not always expressed in music. I wonder how it connects with you… Please take a moment to read and wonder about God’s boundless love and abiding presence in your life and the lives of those around you.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the eyes,
That see a son, not a wretch in me,
I once was lost, then lost it all,
still blind, but You guide me.
T'was Grace that traded love for my fear.
And Grace though I'm yet deceived.
How precious little does Grace appear
as "sovereign will" is preached to the bereaved
Through many dangers, toils and snares
Grace has strained my bones;
'Tis Grace that taught me safety's overrated
'Cause Grace is toppling thrones.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
As those who were sawn in two,
who 'til the end endured.
When at last my loss is mourned,
though my sufferings will have ceased,
All of creation will yet groan,
"Come forth, you Sons of Peace!"
Well we've been here two thousand years,
like blood eclipsing the sun.
How many days til we walk Your ways
under Your reign as one?
